Be An Informed Acai Berry Consumer
Not all Acai Berry Products are alike.
Acai only grows in the Amazon rainforest. The berries are extremely perishable. If they are not handled properly they will lose much of their nutritional power.
If you live in the Amazon, it is easy to get. But for the rest if us, we must make every effort to insure we are buying the best possible Acai berry product. The best acai berry product is one that contains freeze dried acai berry powder or frozen pulp that has been properly handled and that retains its unique nutritional properties and potency.
Acai berry must either be consumed soon after picking or it must be freeze dried quickly after picking (or frozen) in order for the berry's nutritional benefits to be retained. So it is important to buy a product made from acai berries that have been carefully and properly freeze dried or frozen in the Amazon, before the product has been shipped to the producer of the product. Unfortunately, there are many acai products being sold that do not meet these criteria. These improperly handled berries end up with very low antioxidant benefits and low nutritional potency.
Another problem to be aware of is that many acai berry products do not disclose how much acai berry is actually in the product. And if the amount of acai contained in the product is not disclosed then a reasonable conclusion would be that there is probably not as much as you would like in that product.
So as smart acai berry consumers we should look for products that disclose:
- How much acai berry is actually in the product?
- Whether or not the acai berry was produced and handled in a way that preserves the nutritional benefits of the fruit?
- What "type" of acai is in the product?
