“Juice is the Bad Part of the Fruit”
So says Dr. Robert Lustig (among others) of the University of California and the evidence he offers is compelling, to say the least.
And because of this we say…Most Acai Juice is Unhealthy but Acai Powder is Good. A bold statement yes, but we encourage you to do a little reading and watch a few videos (see links below) and we think you will agree.
Here is the synopsis of why most all fruit juices are bad.
It is because the sugar in fruit juice (fructose) is just as bad as white table sugar (sucrose). Somehow, most of us have been under the impression that because a juice is sweetened by the all-natural juice in the fruit… that somehow that is healthy and it is just like eating fruit. But it is NOT healthy and juice is NOT just like eating fruit.
Consider these facts:
1) When fruit is liquefied, most of the fiber is destroyed.
2) The processing of juice makes the fruit “processed” and that processing makes the fruit juice different than the actual fruit.
3) Fruit in liquid form gets digested differently than the whole fruit.
4) The fructose that makes fruit sweet is virtually identical from a molecular perspective as white table sugar.
5) Liquefied fruit overloads your liver with a blast of sugar which can cause serious health problems, just like drinking lots of soda and eating lots of candy bars.
Are All-Natural Fruit Juices Unhealthy Due to Fructose, including acai juice? Probably, yes!
Most people think that fruit juice is healthy because it is just liquefied fruit and fruit is healthy. It’s not true!
Dr. Robert Lustig of the University of California, an expert on these matters, says that fruit sugar (fructose) is as unhealthy as table sugar (sucrose).
